Unique Therapy Approach
Her practice is unique because she is one of the few therapists in the area who uses a certified therapy dog. Clients have the option of having Skasmos (a standard poodle) to be part of their therapy. This innovative approach helps children as well as adults feel more relaxed and comforted as they work through their issues. Therapy dogs also can be utilized in therapy sessions to help desensitize people who have fears of animals.
Standard poodles are ideal for this type of work because they are the second most intelligent breed of dog. They are considered hypo-allergenic and are safe for those with animal allergies. They also do not shed, so clients will not have to worry about dog hair on their clothing.
